Building Permits
In conjunction with Scott County Iowa, the City of LeClaire issues building permits for a variety of residential and commercial building projects. A permit must be obtained AND approved prior to the commencement of the project and are subject to an inspection process.

Scott County issues the following building permits:
Plumbing, electrical, mechanical, interior remodeling, roofing, siding, or windows – please proceed to Scott County to apply for the appropriate permit:
The City of LeClaire issues the following building permits:
Fence, Demolition, Sign, Deck*, Solar*, Floodplain, Swimming Pool*, Retaining Wall, Antenna/Tower, Moving Structure, Parking Area, Sidewalk, Driveway, Accessory Structure (Sheds & Garages)*, Storm Drainage/Culvert, Sewer Lateral Connection, Home and Business Building Additions and New Construction, and Grading/Excavation (COSESCO)* – please apply to the City of LeClaire for the appropriate permit:

Garages/Accessory Structures - A garage or shed permit requires the completion of the Scott County building guide for detached garages.
DOWNLOAD GUIDEDecks – A deck permit requires the completion of the Scott County building guide for uncovered decks and porches.
DOWNLOAD GUIDESwimming Pools – In addition to the City permit, a MidAmerican site plan must be reviewed and approved by MidAmerican Energy.
